We can help you to start collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.

Box is approved for High Sensitivity content, with limited CUI and FOUO.

Special handling requirements exist for CUI and FOUO documents, and requires an External System Request (ESR).

  • Contact mpnsupport@mitre.org for directions on the process.
  • Contact privacy@mitre.org for projects that may involve Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), to determine if a new or updated Privacy Risk Assessment may be necessary, and for any privacy related questions.

Send your external partner the Welcome to Box link. If they cannot access it, please notify us.

Is MITRE tracking what Sponsors and other organizations are blocking access to Box?
Yes. If you come across an organization that is blocking Box, please notify us so that we can investigate further and work on unblocking. An organizational policy may be blocking Box on a particular network. The known blockage locations are:

    • DOD (DOD SAFE is available as an alternative)
      • DISA / DOD CIO
      • OSD / OUSD
      • Air Force (unblocking discussions are under way)
      • Marines
      • NGA
      • AFRICOM/EUCOM
      • DARPA (uses Box, however)
      • NIPRNET
    • DHS / HSSEDI (ATO is being updated)
      • CBP should be unblocked
    • VA (workaround is being explored)
    • IRS (unblocked per request; more permanent solution is being explored)
    • HRSA (requires Box provision on Sponsor’s side)
    • DOJ
    • FBI
    • FEMA
